We hear this question alot: “Should I accept requests to connect from other agents/similar businesses on social media?”
Our resounding opinion is: YES! Absolutely. But, in doing so, be prepared to put a little effort into adjusting your privacy settings.
WHY WOULD I DO THAT?!? THEY ARE COMPETITION!
No, we aren’t crazy. It’s simple and can be summed up in one word: espionage. Who cares what they post or if they steal your posts. Honestly anyone who steals posts from your feed is likely so lazy that they will only do this for a short period of time and move on. They really aren’t a threat.
You want to see who they know that you know, too. You may be accessing the same pool of clients — your sphere of influence may overlap. If you are going to meet with a prospect, it is always a good idea to know who your competition may be, right?
Start connecting with every agent/similar business that you can!
TASK LIST:
- Accept all those requests you have been ignoring.
- Send requests to those that you know and definitely to the ones who share friends, colleagues and acquaintances with you.
- Adjust your privacy settings.
